We’re going to be here for a week or so. Who cares? No rush. There are three northers backed up on Florida now. One will be hitting us every other day, but this is the perfect place to hang out and relax.
Here are some miscellaneous photos from around Flo’s:
*The first is a starfish, approximately 12 inches across; this photo was taken down through 3 feet of water. Clear enough for ya’ ?
*The 2nd is a land crab that Chester was saving for supper. They have a 12 inch wingspan, and look like alien invaders from Mars.
*The 3rd is an in-action shot that I took through the screen in Flo’s of a lizard two seconds after it vertically climbed up the window screen and grabbed a big moth in its mouth.
*The 4th is a “lionfish”. This is a beautiful, but deadly, invasive species of fish that has only recently invaded the Bahamas. We spotted two of them just under the dock ladder as we were getting off the dink. Really stunningly gorgeous, only problem is, they’ll kill you if you touch them. They’re seriously poisonous to the touch. This shot definitely illustrates the clearness of the water here . . . the lionfish is swimming. It’s like the water doesn’t exist, which gives you a really weird vertigo sensation looking down from the boat, especially under the moonlight. If there is no breeze nor wave action at night under a big moon, you appear to floating on nothingness . . . just balancing on the keel.
