On February 19 & 20, 2010, we crossed the Florida Bay heading north, spent a night up the Little Shark River in Everglades Nat’l Park, and made it up into the Barron River outside of Everglades City on the Gulf Coast. We had picked a nice weather window for this 100 mile transit. This area is as “outback” as you can possibly get in the United States; it’s right in between Everglades Nat’l Park and the 10,000 Islands. Full moon and sunset watching was at its best.
